A number of resolutions passed by the Yates County Legislature this week will see Yates Community Services use opioid settlement funding to enter into contracts with local non-profits to help those recovering from a substance abuse disorder.
- $135,809 was awarded to the Finger Lakes Addiction Counseling and Referal Agency from the 2022-2023 Opioid Settlement Fund Regional Abatement to provide housing services for people who are recovering from a substance abuse disorder.
- $28,920 from various Opioid Settlements will be used to help Our Town Rocks support continued harm reduction efforts, provide safe 24-hour access to Naloxone and testing strips, and provide health-related educational materials for people in Dundee who are recovering from a substance use disorder.
- Another $30,000 from various settlements will be used to help FLACRA link up with Our Town Rocks to support recovery center activities, maintain harm reduction activities, support transportation to treatment, and linkage to initiate recovery programming in Dundee for those recovering from a substance abuse disorder.
- $67,000 of settlement funds will be used by the Council of Addictions of the Finger Lakes to provide additional monies for coordination and support for the Yates Prevention Coalition, school-based alcohol and substance abuse prevention and education services to the Penn Yan, Dundee, and Marcus Whitman school districts. The resolutions were all approved unanimously by the Legislature.
