A Yates County man will serve 40 years in prison for sexually exploiting a child over the span of seven years at a number of locations throughout the county and in the Southern Tier.
Andrew Daugherty of Dundee admitted he forced the girl to engage in sexual acts with his friends and acquaintances. Prosecutors say he reinforced the threats while using or threatening to use a .22 caliber rifle. The 49-year-old also admitted to threatening the victim with the rifle to force her to have sex with him while demanding she record those encounters on a cell phone. Daugherty and 17 other people were arrested back in April. A number of the other suspects have already appeared on court.
Back in May, Daugherty agreed to concurrent sentences of 25 years to life for the predatory sexual assault charges, plus a 15-year consecutive sentence for sex trafficking, all felonies,
Following Daugherty’s guilty plea in Yates County Court, District Attorney Todd Casella said the swift outcome in the case ensures Daugherty will never again have contact with, or prey on, a vulnerable child.
