Yates County is participating in “Operation Green Light” an initiative that honors our Veterans by illuminating buildings, homes, and infrastructure green during Veteran’s Day week.

“Operation Green Light” is a nationwide effort to show support for our veterans by illuminating our county buildings in green.

“This initiative is not just about lighting our buildings, it’s about demonstrating our commitment to those who have worn the uniform and served with honor,” said Yates County Veterans Services Director Douglas Gibbs. “It is also meant to bring the Veteran’s attention to the services provided by the County Veteran’s Services office and the benefits the Veteran has earned. By participating in Operation Green Light, we send a clear message to our Veterans that their sacrifices are recognized and appreciated.”

Yates County is illuminating the front of the old Courthouse in green and the Village of Penn Yan is doing the same with the Main Street bridge through November 11th.

Yates County residents who would like to participate can come to the Yates County Veteran’s Services Agency office in the County building at 417 Liberty Street, Suite 2120 in Penn Yan during regular business hours to pick up a free green light bulb.
