A construction worker has died following an accident at an active job site on Cayuga Park Lane in Ithaca.
Emergency crews from the Ithaca Police Department and Bangs Ambulance were called to the scene shortly after 11 a.m. Monday for a reported traumatic injury. The victim received immediate medical care from staff at the nearby Cayuga Health Center and paramedics with Bangs Ambulance before being transported to Cayuga Medical Center, where they later died from their injuries.
According to Ithaca Police, initial findings suggest the incident was accidental. The investigation remains ongoing in coordination with the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA).
