The Finger Lakes Horizon Economic Development Corporation (FLHEDC) an affiliate organization of the Finger Lakes Economic Development Center (FLEDC), announced Governor Kathy Hochul awarded a $375,000 New York Main Street (NYMS) Grant to the FLHEDC, to support a comprehensive Building Renovation Program in the Village of Dundee. This funding will provide financial assistance to mixed-use building owners for façade improvements, first-floor commercial space renovations, and construction or renovation of upper-floor apartments in downtown Dundee.
The NYMS program is a critical tool in efforts to preserve and invigorate downtowns while fostering economic growth. The FLEDC expressed its enthusiasm for this initiative
“There has been tremendous grassroots efforts to revive the Dundee Community and we are thrilled to be part of the continued restoration of the Village,” said Mike Lipari, Director of Business & Community Development for the FLEDC. “This funding aligns with our commitment to revitalizing historic downtowns and village centers throughout Yates County.” The program is expected to enhance the area’s appeal as a destination for both locals and visitors alike. NYMS funding was made available by Governor Hochul and NYS Homes & Community renewal through Round XIV of the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council.
Village of Dundee Mayor Fred Cratsley praised the initiative: “Great News! I want to thank the committee that spearheaded this application and put everything together. This opportunity is great for our community and businesses. I’m extremely excited and looking forward to seeing what great things the businesses can do with these funds.”
Caryl Sutterby, Director of Our Town Rocks, added: “What wonderful news for our village, our business owners and our residents. Small business owners are truly the lifeblood of rural villages such as Dundee. The CFA funding award is a huge step in the redevelopment of our downtown business community. The immediate benefits of the Consolidated Funding Award will bring much-needed financial benefit to our awardees. Moreover, the positive impacts on our economic development will reverberate throughout the village.”
To ensure effective management and oversight of the grant, the FLHEDC will establish a dedicated NYMS grant committee made up of local individuals and community members who will assist with grant implementation. Mike Lipari will lead community outreach efforts, specifically: contacting local building and business owners, explaining grant requirements, assessing project viability, and guiding applicants through the application process.
A public informational meeting will be scheduled in the coming weeks to provide detailed grant information and answer community questions. For more information about the Dundee Building Renovation Program, please contact the FLEDC
