The Steuben County Legislature commended four members of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office for their swift action and teamwork in last month’s apprehension of a woman accused of murdering three people in Virginia.

On June 6th, State Police stopped the murder suspect on Interstate 86 in Allegany County but she took off from the scene. The suspect led a pursuit into Steuben County where Investigator Brown, Deputy Saltsman, Lt. Logsdon, and Deputy Butler joined in the effort and helped to deploy a tire deflation device, which the suspect drove over and caused her vehicle to crash into a guide rail.

“Not only did you display quick and effective evaluation of a dynamic life and death situation, but you also successfully stopped a fleeing person accused of murdering three people, and utilizing your training and tools, took that armed person into custody with no injury to law enforcement and only minor injury to the suspect,” said Sheriff Jim Allard.
