    Very cold wind chills as low as 15 to 25 below expected.

    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 15 to 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Actual air temperature will be below zero each night through Sunday morning. The prolonged cold could cause pipes to freeze or burst. Daytime high temperatures will climb above zero with afternoon highs of 5 to 15 degrees above zero.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Spike: Frank Ryan the “Right Man” To Be Next Yates County Sheriff

On January 1st, Yates County will have a new sheriff for the first time in 32 years. Frank Ryan will officially take over on Monday from the retiring Ron Spike. During a conversation with WFLR, Sheriff Spike said Ryan is the right man for the job.

 

Sheriff Spike said he has been helping Sheriff-Elect Ryan transition to his new role.

 

Frank Ryan began his career with the Sheriff’s Office in 1993 as a part-time corrections officer and on the Marine Patrol Unit. A graduate of St. Michael’s School and Penn Yan Academy, Ryan received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Brockport.
