With another storied Central New York college announcing plans to cease operations Monday, Keuka College is once again poised to help that college’s students complete their educations.
Keuka College has been named one of seven “teach-out” colleges to assist students from Wells College in Cayuga County, which announced Monday it is closing at the end of this semester.
“All of us at Keuka College are deeply saddened by the news that Wells College will be closing its doors after more than 150 years,” said Keuka College President Amy Storey. “And we are committed to making it as easy as possible for Wells’ students to transfer to Keuka College for Fall 2024.”
Storey said Keuka College is well situated to accept students from Aurora-based Wells. Academic programs that align closely between the two colleges include biology, business, education, occupational therapy, and psychology.
In addition, Keuka College has successfully managed recent teach-out agreements with Cazenovia College and Medaille University, both of which have closed within the past two years. Scores of students from those schools have completed – or are on their way to completing – their educations at Keuka College.
“We are honored to serve as a teach-out resource for Wells students,” said Keuka College interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Heather Maldonado. “Not only do we offer many similar programs but, like Wells, our lakeside campus is a supportive environment for academic and personal growth.”
Keuka College has created an informative online resource to introduce its offerings and options to Wells students.
“Wells College students will find a welcoming and supportive learning environment with a myriad of opportunities and assistance available at every step,” said Dr. Maldonado.
