The Ithaca woman convicted in March on all charges for critically injuring Chemung County Sheriff’s Investigator Michael Theetge with her car while fleeing a Target parking lot has been sentenced to jail. Fatiuna Massaline was sentenced on Monday to 12.5 years for the assault of a police officer and seven years for the second-degree assault charge. Both sentences will be served concurrently.
On March 29, 2024, prosecutors said Massaline accelerated her car with Investigator Theetge and her ex-boyfriend, Dominick Haley, on the hood, throwing them off and causing Theetge severe head injuries. She then abandoned her car, disguised herself, and fled before turning herself in the next day.
Haley pleaded guilty in March to charges of felony assault and felony assault on a police officer, along with misdemeanor petit larceny. He was sentenced to 12 years in state prison on the assault of a police officer charge, and seven years on the assault charge. Both sentences are being served concurrently.
