An Ithaca man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in the assault and serious injury of Chemung County Sheriff’s Investigator Mike Theetge, the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.
Dominick Haley received 12 years plus five years of probation for assaulting a police officer, along with a concurrent five-year sentence and probation for second-degree assault.
Haley was convicted on March 3rd for the March 29, 2024, incident where he was caught shoplifting at a Target in Big Flats. When confronted by Investigator Theetge, Haley fled and was tackled onto a getaway vehicle driven by Fatiuana Massaline, also of Ithaca. She accelerated, causing both men to fall off. Theetge hit the pavement, suffering serious back and head injuries.

Haley was caught shortly after, while Massaline fled and was arrested the next day in Ithaca. Massaline, who was also found guilty of her charges is awaiting sentencing on May 19th.
