An Ithaca man will go to prison after admitting to possessing cocaine in Auburn.

Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced that 35-year-old Zachary Jackson pled guilty in court on Thursday to one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a felony.

On November 19, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant on Jackson’s vehicle in Auburn. The search discovered over four ounces of cocaine. Grome Antonacci added that another search warrant executed at Jackson’s residence in Ithaca that same day turned up a kilogram of cocaine and a handgun.

Because of his prior criminal history, Grome Antonacci stated that Jackson will be sentenced as a predicate violent felony offender. When sentenced, something scheduled for January 15, 2026, he faces a determinate sentence of 15 years followed by five years post-release supervision. He also forfeited $37,134 recovered during the search warrants.

Grome Antonacci praised law enforcement for their work in the matter. The investigation was conducted by the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force with help from the Auburn Police Department, Ithaca Police Department, New York State Police, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, and the DEA.

The US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York prosecuted Jackson on the charges stemming from the search warrant in Ithaca.
