Two Convicted in Cayuga Nation Court’s Second Jury Trial

SHARE NOW

The defendants in the Cayuga Nation Court’s second Jury Trial were found guilty of all but one of the charges they faced.

Teresa Longboat was found guilty of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and Elijah Jimerson was found guilty of menacing and resisting arrest. The jury did acquit Jimerson on a weapons possession charge.

The trial stemmed from an incident that happened outside of the Cayuga Nation Police Department in September of 2022 when Longboat chained herself to a gate.  She was asked by Nation Police to move and subsequently attacked Nation Police and was arrested. During her arrest, defendant Jimerson then charged at Nation Police with a wooden stake.

Both defendants have been scheduled for sentencing on July 23 before Cayuga Nation Judge Joseph E. Fahey.
