A police chase that began in Irondequoit early Friday ended in a crash in the city, according to a report by 13WHAM.

Irondequoit police spotted a stolen car near the Ridge-Culver Fire Department on Culver Road around midnight. When the driver refused to stop, a pursuit began westbound on State Route 104. New York State Police and the Monroe County Sheriffโ€™s Office joined the chase as it entered Rochester.

The pursuit lasted about 10 minutes and ended at Lake and Driving Park avenues when the stolen vehicle collided with another car shortly after sheriffโ€™s deputies successfully deployed spike strips.

Two people in the stolen car were taken into custody at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle complained of minor pain and was hospitalized for evaluation.

Authorities identified the driver of the stolen car as 30-year-old Styles Kretschmer. He faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, resisting arrest, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and numerous vehicle and traffic violations.

The passenger, 31-year-old Miguel Angel Vega-Felix, who had an active warrant out of Greece, remained hospitalized while charges were being determined. Both suspects were treated for minor injuries. Kretschmer was later released to the Monroe County Jail.
