The Humane Society of Wayne County has broken ground on a new 10,000-square-foot facility at its current location in Lyons that is designed to improve animal care and streamline pet adoptions.
The one-story, wood-framed building will meet updated New York State shelter standards and serve as a model for similar facilities statewide. SWBR is leading the project’s design, with LeChase Construction handling site upgrades and general contracting.
The new space will enhance conditions for both animals and staff, while improving accessibility and community engagement. It is expected to be completed by spring 2026.
