A Clifton Springs woman charged earlier this week with arson is now facing an additional charge for damaging property while in custody.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies say 30-year-old Kiarra Robinson was arrested Thursday for third-degree criminal mischief after an incident inside the Ontario County Jail in Hopewell on Tuesday. Investigators say Robinson intentionally smashed a county-owned television valued at $99.99, rendering it unusable. She remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in CAP Court.
Robinson was first arrested on Tuesday in connection with an apartment fire in Clifton Springs last week. Deputies allege she set multiple fires inside and outside her Broad Street residence on August 4th, and even threw burning items at responding officers. No injuries were reported. She will answer to the arson charge in Manchester Town Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
