Sparks from a welding torch started the fire last week at Connie’s Diner in Waterloo.
On a Facebook post the owners, the Cartatozzolo family, say the welding work was being done last Monday for new awnings.
The diner has about 40-employees.
It’s the second fire in less than three years. A basement electrical problem caused a fire in August 2021.
