A Wayne County man has been charged with attempted rape and burglary in the city of Canandaigua.
It is alleged that between last Friday and last Saturday, Brian VanCaeseele entered a home in Canandaigua where a physical disturbance took place. During this altercation, VanCaeseele refused to let them leave their home for an approximately 8-hour period and attempted to engage the victim in unwanted sex.
The 55-year-old Palmyra man was also charged with criminal contempt for allegedly violating an Order of Protection the victim had against him.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
