A Phelps man was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital following a head-on crash in Ontario County Friday morning.
According to police, 65-year-old John Vancamp was driving south on County Road 6 in Phelps at 5 o’clock when his pickup crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 60-year-old Michael Borino of Phelps.
Borino was taken to Rochester for further medical evaluation, while Vancamp was taken to Geneva General Hospital for a checkover.
Vancamp was ticketed for failure to keep right.
The area near 2226 County Road 6 where the accident occurred was shut down for several hours while police conducted their investigation.
The Oaks Corners Fire Department and North Seneca EMS Finger Lakes Ambulance responded to the scene.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
