Two people were transported to area hospitals following a three-vehicle crash Saturday at the intersection of State Route 88 and Ryder Road in the Town of Arcadia, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say the collision occurred when a northbound vehicle on State Route 88, driven by Spenser Fulton of Newark, rear-ended another vehicle traveling in the same direction. That vehicle, operated by Virginia Jackson, also of Newark, was pushed into a third vehicle that was attempting to turn left onto Ryder Road. The third vehicle was driven by Gerald Matthews.
Jackson was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of neck pain, while Matthews was transported to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital with symptoms of shock and internal pain. Fulton was not injured in the crash, according to deputies.
Fulton was cited for following too closely and failing to wear a seatbelt. The citations are returnable to the Town of Arcadia Court.
The Newark Fire Department assisted at the scene. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation.
