A Rochester man is facing felony drug charges in Ontario County after residents reported suspicious drug activity at Farmington Court Apartments to the Sheriff’s Department.
The anonymous tips received launched a several month-long investigation that identified the suspect, 35-year-old Eric Gonzalez, the car he drove to transport drugs, and the apartment he used to sell the drugs. Sheriff David Cirencione said investigators also observed Gonzalez complete hand-to-hand drug transactions on multiple occasions.
When police executed a search warrant, Gonzalez was found to have a large amount of crack cocaine that was concealed in his pants, approximately $2,700 in cash, and a digital scale. A large amount of drugs were also found in Gonzalez’s car, as were multiple items of evidence inside the apartment he’s accused of using.
Following his arraignment on a felony charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, Gonzalez was released from police custody.
“The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is committed to the relentless pursuit of drug dealers within our county and take every tip seriously,” said Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione. “During the execution of the search warrants, multiple residents of the Farmington Court Apartments thanked the Officers for responding to the complaints regarding Gonzalez.”
Sheriff Cirencione added that if you have information about this case or wish to report illegal drug activity, please call (585) 396-3784 (DRUG) or submit a tip through the Ontario County Sheriff’s Mobile App.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
