The Seneca Falls couple arrested earlier this month for allegedly attempting to obstruct a home visit from Child Protective Services is facing new charges in connection with the incident.
During the October 8th visit, police and CPS officials discovered two unsecured firearms in an upstairs bedroom, accessible to a 3-year-old child living in the home. The firearms were neither stored in a secure area nor equipped with gun locks, violating New York State’s Safe Storage Act.
As a result, both 24-year-old Marquise Hatten and 21-year-old Passion Edwards have been charged with two counts of failure to safely store firearms and a single count of endangering the welfare of a child.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
