Seneca County residents are invited to speak at a public hearing next month on the county’s draft solid waste management plan. Chairman Mike Enslow says the October 8th public hearing follows a presentation made to the Board of Supervisors last month.
The Draft Local Solid Waste Management Plan identifies a path to manage and reduce the amount of solid waste generated within the County during ten years consistent with the State’s solid waste management policy. Pursuant to the revised Part 366-3 Solid Waste Regulations as promulgated by the State of New York Department of Environmental Conservation, the public has forty-five (45) days in which to review and comment on the LSWMP.
Enslow added the Plan did not factor in whether or not the Seneca Meadows Landfill would remain open through 2040 after applying for a state permit
The October 8th public hearing is at 6:00 PM in the Meeting Room at the Historic Three Bears Courthouse in Ovid.
A copy of the Draft LSWMP will be available for public review at the Seneca County Department of Planning and Community Development, 2nd Floor of the Seneca County Office Building, and at https://www.co.seneca.ny.us/gov/admin/planning/
