Seneca County Now Supports Covert and Camp Barton

Seneca County is a step closer to helping fund the Local Development Corporation to oversee Camp Barton in Covert.

Last night the Seneca County Board of Supervisors Economic Development & Tourism committee voted in favor of giving $10-thousand dollars to the town of Covert for their support of a local-state partnership to operate Camp Barton.  That’s a complete turnaround from when the funding was discussed just two weeks ago.

Lodi supervisor Kyle Barnhart says after a meeting with state park officials, the LDC is the best way forward.

 

 

The full board of supervisors will vote next month on the partnership with the town of Ulysses and the Village of Trumansburg.

The Boy Scouts are selling the 130-acre camp to help payoff sexual abuse claims.
