A Seneca County man died Wednesday after his motorcycle crashed into a parked pickup truck.
Police say 23-year-old Ronald Wheeler, of Interlaken, was riding a Kawasaki Ninja on County Road 139 near Hall Road when he veered off the westbound lane, left the north shoulder, and struck a pickup truck parked in a driveway.
First responders attempted life-saving measures, but Wheeler succumbed to his injuries. A preliminary investigation suggests speed and high wind gusts were factors in the crash.
Members of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by South Seneca Ambulance, Ovid Fire Department, Interlaken Fire Department, Seneca County Highway Department, and the Seneca County Crisis Team.
County Road 139 was closed for approximately 3 hours while the investigation unfolded.
