A fire heavily damaged a home Saturday morning in Ontario County.
Firefighters from Manchester, Shortsville, and Clifton Springs departments responded to a house fire at 12 Howard Street in Manchester on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. After the fire was put out, an investigation determined the ash of a lit cigarette started the fire in the doorway of the second-floor bedroom. Code enforcement deemed the house uninhabitable at this time. The American Red Cross offered assistance to the homeowners.
Fingerlakes Ambulance also responded to the scene along with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
