An inmate at the Ontario County Jail has been charged with 358 counts of criminal contempt.
It is alleged that over the last three months, Laron Cheeks, of Hopewell, contacted a person who is the protected party of an Order of Protection by telephone 358 times.
Cheeks was arraigned before the Centralized Arraignment Part and committed to the Ontario County Jail on these charges in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, $2,500 insurance company bail bond, or $5,000 partially secured appearance bond.
The 26-year-old Cheeks will appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date for further proceedings.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
