An Ontario County woman is facing charges of animal cruelty and animal abandonment after she allegedly left a Poodle in a camper for an extended time.
On August 3rd, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office was contacted regarding a possible animal complaint at 8044 Routes 5 and 20 in West Bloomfield. It was at this time that another tenant had secured a nine-to-10-year-old male Poodle-type dog from a camper that he was living in after its owner, Autumn Lee, had apparently left for Rochester and had not returned after several days.
The camper that the dog named Lucky was found to be living in allegedly had unsanitary conditions that included dog feces throughout the residence and rotten food. Lucky was covered with fleas and gnats. Investigators with the Humane Society said it was also excessively hot inside the trailer. They determined there wasn’t any food or water left for Lucky and he had an untreated abscess under his right eye. After being seized by the Humane Society, Lucky was taken to a local veterinarian who conducted a test on the abscess. It was later found to be cancer and had spread throughout its body.
On August 29th, Lee returned to 8044 Routes 5 and 20 and was located by Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies. She was issued appearance tickets for West Bloomfield Town Court.
Unfortunately, last Thursday, Lucky was humanely euthanized after his cancer spread and could not be treated.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
