Ontario County District Attorney Announces Re-Election Bid

SHARE NOW

Ontario County District Attorney James Ritts is seeking re-election in 2025. With Monday’s announcement, Ritts will be seeking his third term as Ontario County DA.

“I have been so honored to serve Ontario County as your District Attorney for the last six-and-one-half years,” said Ritts. “As District Attorney my team and I have successfully navigated never before seen changes in New York’s criminal justice system brought about by bail reform, discovery reform, and Raise the Age. Today, I am proud to announce my bid for re-election in 2025 and look forward to continuing the tradition of holding criminals accountable in our County for the next four years.”

Before being elected District Attorney in 2017, Ritts was an Assistant District Attorney under Michael Tantillo.

His campaign says Ritts pilots an office that prides itself on keeping Ontario County a safe place for its residents and visitors alike.

“Maintaining one of the top conviction rates for Driving While Intoxicated offenses and consistently obtaining prison for those that prey on our children, the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office under Ritts leads the charge across the State in the protection of the innocent and vulnerable.”

“As I finish out this term and look forward to the next four-year term, I pledge to continue to seek justice for those most at risk in our community. As members of this beautiful county, we all deserve to live, work, and raise children in a community that values safety and holding those who violate our criminal laws accountable for their actions,” said DA Ritts. “I look forward to the coming election and continuing to serve Ontario County with pride.”
