The Ontario County Conservative Party has a new leader. Former Congressional candidate Mario Fratto has been tapped to take over from Reid Robbins, who stepped down.
“For close to a decade, I have attempted to represent the Conservatives in Ontario County and around New York State well. During that time, we saw party growth and activity, experiencing many victories and losses, but continuing to advance the principles of individual freedoms, fiscal responsibility, and social conservatism.
The Conservative party was founded not as a party to replace Republicans or even to be anti-Democrat Party, but as an anchor, shoring politicians across the state to what used to be considered common sense.
Conservatives represent: Freedom, Faith, Family, Sanctity and Dignity of Human Life, American Exceptionalism, The Founders’ Wisdom and Vision, Lower Taxes, Limited Government, and Peace Through Strength. I hope that in some ways we accomplished some of these in the past ten years and look forward to many more years fighting for this cause.
At this time, however, due to some changes in my personal life over time as well as some ongoing health issues which I hope to keep under control for the sake of my growing family: I must take a step back and resign as Chairman. These things were never meant to be life-long commitments, but, citizens taking their turn leading for God and country. Knowing this was coming, with the advice and at the request of my committee, we reached out to Mario Fratto to ask him to take the lead. Given his background as a solid, free-thinking, principled conservative we believe the members of the Conservative Party will do well under his leadership. I’ve endorsed him before, and I stand by that endorsement today.”
Fratto was unanimously voted in as the party’s new leader on Monday.
“I want to thank former Chairman Reid Robbins for his years of service to the Conservative Party and being a champion for conservative causes. I know Reid as a man of faith, devoted to his family and country, and guided by principles that he will never compromise. I also know that the Ontario County Conservatives are among the most conservative committees in the state. For those reasons, I said yes to being their new chairman. I have always been a no-compromise conservative, and I look forward to working with the committee to honor Reid’s legacy.”
