New Warrant Issued for “Armed and Dangerous” Man Wanted in Ontario County

SHARE NOW

A new arrest warrant has been issued for the 26-year-old Rochester man accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in Canandaigua.

Jonathan Matthews is wanted on felony drug charges. He rammed an unmarked police car and fled in a black BMW X5 last Monday, driving onto a sidewalk before heading west on Bristol Street. Police pursued him into rural Farmington but ended the chase for safety reasons.

The new warrant issued by Canandaigua City Court on Tuesday is for bail jumping.

Authorities warn Matthews is armed and dangerous due to prior weapons convictions, and additional felony charges will be filed upon his arrest.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
