Motorcycle Race Leads to Police Chase in Ontario County

SHARE NOW

Two men are facing charges in Ontario County after allegedly racing motorcycles at over 100 mph on State Route 332 in the town of Canandaigua.

Deputies spotted the high-speed pair around 11:30 Monday night and attempted a traffic stop. Instead, the riders, 21-year-old Reed McBride of Fairport and 25-year-old Devin Chamberlain of Canandaigua, ran a red light and accelerated further. Chamberlain was eventually taken into custody by deputies, while State Police intercepted McBride as he tried to evade capture.

Both motorcycles were impounded.

Both men were charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer, unauthorized speed contest, reckless driving, passing a red light signal, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and failure to comply with a police officer. They will answer their charges in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date.

McBride was issued several additional citations from State Police and is scheduled to appear in Farmington Town Court at a later date.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
