A child in Wayne County had to be hospitalized after police say they were exposed to a controlled substance at a home in Savannah during a domestic incident on Wednesday.
A search of the Wilsey Road residence on Thursday by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office allegedly turned up controlled substances. As a result, 54-year-old William Smith was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of assault.
After his arrest, Smith was brought to the Wayne County Jail to await CAP arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
