A Victor man has been charged in connection with an incident at the Canandaigua Elementary School this week.
On Tuesday morning at around 8:30, Marcus Curtis attempted to enter the school and students began arriving for the day. The 62-year-old was immediately stopped by school staff near the Main Office and escorted through a secondary entrance away from students as school buses began to arrive. Those students were held on their buses until the scene inside the school was deemed safe. After Curtis was detained, students were allowed inside the school.
Curtis was charged with criminal trespass. There is no evidence he intended to cause any harm to anyone at the school.
Canandaigua Police credit the alert staff at the school for minimizing the effects of this incident by quickly recognizing the potential danger and promptly reacting to it.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
