New York State Police in Canandaigua have arrested Jack L. Miles, 67, of Rochester, in connection with a robbery and assault at Macy’s in Eastview Mall on March 4, 2025.
Around 9:52 p.m., Miles allegedly stole six winter jackets and pepper-sprayed an 84-year-old female employee when confronted before fleeing. Authorities later identified a vehicle linked to the crime and located Miles inside it outside Macy’s on March 5. He was taken into custody without incident.
Miles faces charges of second-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and fourth-degree grand larceny. He is being held without bail pending arraignment. The victim sustained injuries but declined medical treatment.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
