The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Town of Butler woman following an investigation into an assault with a weapon.

Deputies arrested Elizabeth Merritt, age 44, of Lasher Road in the Town of Butler following the investigation. It is alleged that during a neighbor dispute, Merritt retrieved a baseball bat from inside her residence and approached the victim screaming to get off of her property. Merritt allegedly struck the victim several times in the left arm, hand, and legs resulting in the victim being physically injured. It is further alleged that the victim was tackled to the ground and Merritt again struck the victim. Merritt and the victim were physically separated without further incident.

Merritt was charged with assault, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Early Monday afternoon, 65-year-old Peter Druskis, also of Lasher Road, in Butler, was arrested after he allegedly ran over a neighbor’s flowers and other garden items intentionally destroying them.

Druskis was charged with criminal mischief and was released on an appearance ticket.

It was not immediately known if the two separate incidents on Lasher Road were related.
