An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting of a 33-year-old Geneva man in the city earlier this month.
Miguel Valencia, of Geneva, was arrested Friday at the Luzerne County Jail in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It’s alleged that after the 30-year-old attempted to murder his victim during the early morning hours of November 3rd, he fled to Pennsylvania, and was eventually located in Kingston, about three-and-a-half hours away from Geneva. After Valencia was extradited back to Ontario County, he was indicted on felony charges of attempted second-degree murder, attempted assault, assault, and two counts of weapons possession.
The victim was found inside the Byrne Dairy on Castle Street with gunshot wounds to his lower extremities. He was last listed in stable condition at Strong.
The United States Marshals and the Kingston Police Department provided assistance in locating and apprehending the suspect.
