The Rochester man arrested last Friday in Geneva on felony drug charges tried to escape during his court appearance on Monday.
Loyd Kennedy was one of two convicted felons charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after police found a large amount of crack cocaine and ecstasy inside of the South Main Street residence.
During his initial court appearance in Geneva City Criminal Court on Monday, Kennedy allegedly fled the courtroom and used physical force in an attempt to run through a security check point. Ontario County Court Deputies successfully apprehended Kennedy and sent him to the Ontario County Jail.
During the escape, an Ontario County Court Deputy suffered an injury. They were checked over at Geneva General Hospital and released.
Kennedy was charged with escape and assault, both felonies.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
