An early morning motorcycle crash in the town of Gorham claimed the life of a Rushville man.
Daniel Blauvelt was riding south on County Road 18 just after midnight when he made contact with a small Earth embankment on the side of State Route 245 after passing through the intersection. Investigators believe that is what caused the 36-year-old to be thrown from his motorcycle.
Blauvelt was pronounced dead at the scene.
State Route 245 was closed for almost three hours. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Stanley and Gorham fire departments and Stanley-Hall-Gorham EMS.
The cause of the investigation is ongoing.
