A one-car accident in Ontario County claimed the life of a Rochester man on Saturday.
61-year-old John Sutherland was driving a 2020 Toyota Tundra north on Lawrence Hill Road in the town of Canadice at around 9:30 a.m. when he drove off the road’s west side and drove into a ditch. When first responders located Sutherland, there were reportedly no signs of life and they attempted life-saving measures. He was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Reconstruction Team and Criminal Investigation Division responded and investigated the accident. Lawrence Hill Road was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation. At this time, the cause of the crash is under investigation.
The Hemlock and Richmond Fire Departments and Richmond Ambulance all responded to the scene and assisted the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
