State Police have charged the Oswego woman who was behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a creek in Wolcott in August of 2022 killing a five-year-old passenger.

On August 4, 2022, at approximately 4:58 p.m., the State Police responded to a one-vehicle fatal accident on Younglove Road. Investigators have found that Kayla Perrotta was traveling westbound and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to exit the roadway, overturn, and become completely submerged in a creek.

Troopers say that there were seven passengers in the vehicle when it overturned and three were ejected, two self-extracted themselves, and the last two were extracted.

The deceased, identified as Joseph Zufelt, age 5, was taken to Oswego Hospital.

Dylan Camp, age 17, from Red Creek was taken to Upstate Hospital for minor injuries.

Isaac Moody, age 14, from Martville, was taken to Strong Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Kolby Sincerbeaux, age 17, from Red Creek, was taken to Strong Hospital with serious injuries.

Izabella Sincerbeaux, age 14, from Red Creek, was taken to Upstate Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Serenity Benjamin, age 10, from Oswego, was taken to Upstate Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Perrotta, age 28, from Oswego, was taken to Oswego Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Kayla Perrotta was arrested this week on five counts of assault, including two felonies.  She is scheduled to return to court in one month.
