The Department of Environmental Conservation is investigating a gas spill or leak in Clifton Springs.
The site in question is the Crosby’s Store and Mobil gas station, located at 1 Kendall Street.
According to the DEC, the agency’s spills response experts responded to the site last Thursday, after reports of gasoline odors in a nearby businesses, with odors also “observed in the sanitary sewer.” The DEC’s initial investigation determined an “unknown amount of fuel” had impacted the sanitary sewer, storm sewer and nearby Sulphur Creek.
The DEC is working with the village of Clifton Springs Sewer Department and Fire Departments and will continue to monitor the investigation and cleanup activities.
