The court appearances for Waterloo Town Supervisor Don Trout and Town Board member Rob Lotz have been postponed until March 10th.
Both officials face burglary charges related to an alleged incident last March 25th at the town’s Highway Department building. According to reports, Trout and Lotz used their keys to enter the building and damaged a television after Highway Superintendent Joe Mull did not remove it as instructed. The Finger Lakes Times reports the two made the TV inoperable.
Despite the charges, Trout has expressed confidence that he will be exonerated, and both officials have stated they will not resign.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
