SHARE NOW

A Florida couple will each spend nine years in state prison for dousing their one-year-old baby daughter with lighter fluid at the Love’s Travel Stop in Tyre just over one year ago.

13 WHAM reports that in addition to time behind bars, Jamie Avery, Junior and Lisbeth Collado were also sentenced on Wednesday to five years of post-release supervision, and orders of protection were granted to the baby and a three-year-old boy who was found injured in Avery’s tractor-trailer on the morning of May 3rd, 2022. Both children are expected to make full recoveries from their injuries. Avery Jr. and Collado were arrested for also setting several small fires inside the travel center.

Avery Jr. and Lisbeth Collado both filed a Notice of Intent to Appeal.

A motive was never determined for the couple’s actions that morning.
