Following a two-week delay, the Canandaigua man who admitted to exposing himself to children at different locations in Ontario County last December was sentenced on Wednesday.
Paul Goodrell was sentenced to seven years for burglary as a sexually motivated offense and one year each for each of six counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of public lewdness. The sentences will run concurrently. Following his release, Goodrell will be supervised for 15 years.
A registered sex offender since 2010, Goodrell pleaded guilty in February to burglary as a sexually motivated felony, public lewdness, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Goodrell admitted to going into the Walmart in Victor on December 6th for what police say was an attempt to commit a crime for his sexual gratification. Three years ago, Goodrell was banned from all Walmart stores. He was spotted on surveillance footage following a family with young girls throughout the store and at no attempt was engaged in shopping.
Goodrell admitted to exposing himself to a juvenile while inside the Tops Supermarket on Route 96 in Farmington on December 6th. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Department charged him with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child
He was arrested on the same charges for a separate incident on December 8th at a grocery store in the city of Canandaigua. The video surveillance obtained during the investigation from the grocery store indicates there were additional victims.
Goodrell was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and public lewdness for exposing himself to a seven-year-old girl at a location on State Route 364 in Canandaigua on December 9th.
His sentencing was initially supposed to happen on April 10th but he wasn’t transported from Elmira Correctional Facility due to miscommunication between the Court and the state Department of Corrections
