Canandaigua Sex Offender Accused of Lewdness; Police Seeking Additional Victims

SHARE NOW

On December 9th, Canandaigua Police arrested a Level Three sex offender on charges of public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child.

The previous day, police were dispatched to a grocery store in the City of Canandaigua for the report of an adult male who exposed himself and masturbated in front of a 7-year-old child, in addition to attempting to lure the child away from their guardians. Through investigation, the suspect was identified as Paul Goodrell, who was located in the same grocery store on December 9th. Police did not identify the store.  After being taken into custody and while being transported to the Canandaigua Police Department, Goodrell is accused of intentionally damaging his parole-issued ankle monitoring bracelet, which was captured on the Canandaigua Police Department’s surveillance system.

Goodrell was processed and taken to the Ontario County Jail for Centralized Arraignment. Additional charges for breaking his ankle monitoring bracelet are pending.

The video surveillance obtained during the investigation from the grocery store indicates there were additional victims. If anyone has information regarding additional victims, you are encouraged to contact Officer Jeremiah Welch via email, at [email protected].
