A Canandaigua man has been charged for an incident that occurred last month that involved a city police officer.
On August 6th, officers attempted to speak to William Pealo regarding a matter when the 42-year-old allegedly leveled a Samurai Sword towards one officer’s chest and aggressively moved towards him. The officer was able to retreat and attempted to verbally de-escalate the situation. Pealo is then alleged to have pulled out a badge and impersonated a police officer. After being taken into custody, Pealo was brought to Clifton Springs Hospital for evaluation.
On Wednesday, he was charged with menacing a police officer and criminal impersonation.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
