A Rushville man has been charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in connection with the death of his neighbor.
On April 14th, 32-year-old Nicholas Pascazi, the Third, was involved in an alleged altercation with another person on Arnold Road in Rushville. Pascazi’s neighbor, 55-year-old Teddy Read, intervened in an attempt to separate the two men when he was allegedly hit in the head by Pascazi. As a result of that punch, Read fell, striking his head on a concrete floor resulting in him going unconscious and suffering a head injury. He was airlifted to Strong where he passed away from his injuries on May 5th.
On Thursday, Pascazi was arrested on a sealed indictment charging him with felony second-degree manslaughter, felony criminally negligent homicide, and misdemeanor assault. He was released from jail after posting bail.
Police say in addition to being neighbors, Read and Pascazi were acquaintances.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
