Joined by State Senator Pamela Helming, Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan, Assemblywoman Andrea Bailey and numerous other local leaders and community members, Stefanie Barnes announced her campaign for Ontario County Judge on Saturday.

According to her release from her campaign, Barnes is seeking to use her extensive litigation experience to apply the law fairly as Ontario County Judge. She has worked in the legal field for nearly twenty-five years and has dedicated her career to defending the most vulnerable among us in their time of greatest need.

Barnes’ experience includes working in the family court system where she has represented petitioners, respondents, and children. She is certified as an Attorney For the Child through the Appellate Division and serves as a Court Evaluator, Guardian and Attorney. Barnes said these additional qualifications allow her to advocate on behalf of children in difficult situations and be a voice for adults who are unable to care for themselves.

“As someone who has spent her career in the courtroom I know how important it is to have judges that apply the law fairly and have the experience to make a difference. It is an honor to have earned the trust of so many in our community throughout my career and I look forward to putting my experience to work serving the families of Ontario County,” said Barnes.

Stefanie spent much of her career as a prosecutor in the Major Felony Crimes Bureau and currently serves as a part-time district attorney. As a prosecutor, she said she concentrated her work on upholding the law by holding those charged with violent crimes accountable for their actions. The Farmington resident currently works in private practice serving families in Ontario County and throughout the Finger Lakes region.

“I look forward to working with Stefanie as she puts her experience to work for the families of Ontario County. She has the character and integrity to serve our community with distinction,” said Jared Simpson, Chairman of the Ontario County Board of Supervisors.

“Stefanie is an experienced attorney who has served our community with distinction for decades. Throughout her service she has worked to defend the rights of children and the vulnerable. It is critical that we have thoughtful, fair judges serving Ontario County,” said New York State Senator Pam Helming.

“As a lifelong Ontario County resident and former Manchester Town Supervisor I have seen firsthand the impact judges and the justice system can have on our community. Stefanie brings the experience, compassion and most importantly fairness that we need serving our community as our next Ontario County Judge,” said Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan.

“I am excited that Stefanie has decided to put her extensive legal experience to work for the residents of Ontario County. Now, more than ever, we need strong, experienced judges. Stefanie has the commitment and experience needed to make our community better and ensure justice is served,” said New York State Assemblywoman Andrea Bailey.

“I have had the opportunity to get to know Stefanie and her passion for serving our community. Fair and experienced judges are critical to ensuring justice. I look forward to continuing to work with Stefanie throughout her campaign and look forward to the positive impact she will make as Ontario County Judge” said Jack Marren, Victor Town Supervisor and Former Chairman of the Ontario County Board of Supervisors.

“I look forward to working with Stefanie as she works to earn the trust and support of Ontario County voters. She has the character and integrity to make a positive difference in our community,” said Ontario County Clerk Jean Chrisman.

“As a retired police officer and detective I have had the distinct honor of serving the citizens of Ontario County and protecting public safety. I know how important public safety and good judges are and that is why I am proud to support Stefanie,” said Gary Baxter, former Ontario County Treasurer.
