A Horseheads man is facing multiple charges, including a felony weapons count, following a domestic incident late Sunday night.
The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office reports that 37-year-old Ryken Ruuspakka was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a residence in the town at approximately 11:52 p.m.
Following an investigation, Ruuspakka was initially charged with third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child, obstructing governmental administration, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, all Class A misdemeanors.
Authorities say that under New York State domestic violence laws, deputies removed a total of 47 firearms from the residence. Among those were six weapons not compliant with New York State law, as well as four 30-round magazines.
The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division assisted in the case. As a result of the non-compliant firearms, Ruuspakka was additionally charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony.
Ruuspakka was arraigned in Horseheads Town Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail in lieu of bail. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
