A Gates woman has been charged with assault and child endangerment following an investigation into allegations of abuse involving children at an unlicensed daycare operation.

According to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, 31-year-old Casey Raetz was arrested Tuesday after an investigation by the Gates Police Department.

Prosecutors allege Raetz operated an unlicensed daycare from her home in Gates and physically abused five children in her care.

Raetz has been charged with seven counts of second-degree assault and six counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Authorities said each assault charge alleges that she caused injury to a child younger than seven years old.

During her arraignment, a judge issued five no-contact orders protecting the alleged victims. Bail was set at $300,000 cash, $900,000 bond, or a $2 million partially secured bond.
